A partner at Deloitte Consulting has received the title Victorian ICT Woman of the Year for her efforts to increase the diversity of IT teams.

Kaylene O'Brien, a partner at Deloitte Consulting, has been named Victorian ICT Woman of the Year. The award recognises the way she has broadened the professional base of IT across backgrounds, gender and cultures.

Ms O'Brien joined the ICT industry as a programmer with Andersen Consulting, and joined Deloitte in 1996. She was made partner 12 years later.

"Kaylene is a highly respected across the ICT industry in Victoria. She is a senior partner in our Technology practice at Deloitte and has been shaping the industry by being a board member of VicICT for Women and through her work with a range of education institutions," said Rob Hillard, lead technology partner at Deloitte Consulting.

"Kaylene has demonstrated that projects, organisations and ICT in general can be gender balanced through leading by example. At Deloitte, Kaylene took on broader management positions before being identified and fast tracked to Partner in 2008."

Ms O'Brien is now in contention for the national title, which will be awarded on August 9.
