Hackett established Internode in 1991 and sold it to iiNet for $105m in February this year for a mix of cash and iiNet shares that made him one of iiNet's largest shareholders.
Also, Internode's long serving CEO Patrick Tapper will leave the company in order to move to Queensland. Hackett said: "In recent years Pat has spent more time with his partner and family in Queensland. As the call to move north has grown stronger, he has made the decision to relocate there permanently." He will have been with Internode 14 years, come July.
Other senior iiNet executives are also moving into new roles at iiNet Internode's CTO, John Lindsay, has been appointed iiNet CTO and will be responsible for the network and operations of both iiNet and Internode.
iiNet's former CTO, Greg Bader has become CEO of iiNet Business and Internode's general manager business and government, Daryl Knight, will now take on this role for the entire group, reporting to Bader.
Internode's Heidi Angove will head the games network following the merger of iiNet's 3FL with Internode's games.on.net, announced earlier this month.
Hackett, Lindsay, Angove and Knight will continue to be based in Adelaide.
