COLUMBUS, OHIO - April 26, 2012 - Kentrox®, Inc., an innovator of site monitoring, management, and control solutions, announces immediate availability of the security management module for enhanced site management. Security of remote sites (cell sites, towers, hub locations, sub-stations, microwave sites, or other unstaffed sites) is becoming extremely important for service providers for both site equipment and personnel. The risk of theft and vandalism has been increasing. This includes fuel, copper, and site equipment which can cost thousands of dollars in loss or damage per incident. In addition to the cost of tangible items from theft, intangible items are also extremely costly, such as site outages and network availability.
The Kentrox security management module provides the applications needed to help service providers monitor activities at remote sites and provide alarms to deter intruders. The applications use Optima and the Remote suite of products to monitor the sites by providing the following:
- Video surveillance: provides real-time video access and local storage of images during motion detection
- Access monitoring: monitors access at the site including instance counts
- Access control: allows individual access to a site from a remote monitoring location
- Intrusion alarming: initiates alarm and lights on site intrusion at the perimeter
This is the fourth module introduced by Kentrox in 2012. The additional modules include tower management, power management, and environmental management. Each packaged module includes the information, reports, measurements, network elements, alarms, and sensors/controllers that are needed for each application. Optima Live View shows the per site status overview of the specific application's alarms and key performance indicators (KPIs). It provides auto-refresh and single click links to pre-defined reports, alarms, analysis, and controls. The standardized reports are context sensitive and provide a one click zoom to the selected alarms or KPIs to better understand site status.
'Theft and vandalism are a challenge at many remote sites, not only because of the cost of fuel, copper, and equipment, but they also impact network availability,' explains Ben Stump, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Kentrox. 'The security management module provides the tools to help prevent vandalism and theft and added security for site visitors that are allowed access.'
