Huawei's new CFO is a local

Huawei Australia has appointed Luke Austin as its chief financial officer.

"The appointment of Luke Austin as our new CFO is yet another success for Huawei Australia's localisation strategy," said Jeremy Mitchell, director of corporate and public affairs. Mr Austin's predecessor, Brian Hoppe, has been promoted to a new senior role in Huawei's global finance department in Shenzhen.

Mr Austin joined the company from Lenovo, where he was most recently chief financial officer and operations director for the company's Australia and New Zealand operations. He was previously planning director for Lenovo's Asia-Pacific region.

Earlier in his career, Mr Austin worked for IBM and Arthur Andersen.

He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Macquarie University and a MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
