Assange loses appeal

IT People - People

The British High Court has just now announced that Julian Assange WILL be extradited to Sweden.

Julian Assange was in court this morning (UK time) to hear his fate in the matter of the appeal against extradition to Sweden to be questioned over alleged sexual assaults involving two separate women.  Many have argued that the case turns on whether the EU extradition laws permit extradition for questioning or whether charges have to be laid before extradition is possible.

Furthermore, cynics have
opined en mass that the extradition to Sweden is merely a precursor to his being forwarded to the US for their own brand of 'natural justice.'

In a ruling read to a packed courtroom, the presiding judges Lord Justice Thomas and Mr Justice Ouseley declared that the original order to extradite was lawfulwhich means he should be transferred to Sweden within 14 days.

It is expected that Assange and his legal team will seek leave to appeal to the Supreme Court although whether leave will be granted is very uncertain.

More to follow.
