Aussie is ICANN's first corporate affairs chief

Paul Levins has been named by ICANN to the newly created role of executive officer and vice president - corporate affairs, one of thee appointments announced by the global Internet body.
The position has been created to oversee ICANN's communications, messaging and board support functions. ICANN says it "will be crucial to communicating with and listening to the Internet community as ICANN grows to service its constituencies."

Levins will be based in the Marina Del Rey Office in California. He has worked as a corporate affairs manager for Telstra and prior to joining ICANN was general manager, operations and corporate Affairs at Bilfinger Berger Australia, a German-owned holding company in the infrastructure, building and services sector.

He has been a chief of staff to government ministers in portfolios as diverse as Health; Urban Affairs and Planning; Housing; Higher Education; Employment Services; Water; Infrastructure and Natural Resources and has worked at the Australian Human Rights Commission on the introduction of tax file number and privacy legislation, and in the education and youth policy sectors.

ICANN has appointed Bart Boswinkel, previously general manager of the registry for .nl (Netherlands) as account manager - RIRs. His primary responsibility will be to enhance and develop ICANN's relations with registries - to gain a better understanding of how ICANN can best serve them, from both an operational and policy perspective.

Theresa Swinehart has been promoted to vice president, global and strategic partnerships. She has been general manager, global partnerships for ICANN since 2004.
