ShoreTel signs Blackmore as CEO

IP communications provider ShoreTel has appointed Peter Blackmore as its president and chief executive officer.


"Peter brings a wealth of hardware, software, services and channel expertise to ShoreTel," said board chairman Gary Daichendt. "His track record of successfully scaling technology organisations worldwide makes him the right leader to accelerate ShoreTel's growth."

Mr Blackmore was most recently president, CEO and director of UTStarcom. His previous roles include executive vice president in charge of worldwide sales, marketing and technology at Unisys, executive vice president of the customer solutions group and previously the enterprise systems group at Hewlett-Packard, various senior management positions at Compaq including senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing and then executive vice president for sales and service.

He holds an MA in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge.

Don Girskis, who served as ShoreTel's interim CEO, will resume his position as senior vice president of worldwide sales. Mr Girskis took over the reins when former CEO John Combs resigned in September 2010. Mr Combs announced his intention to leave the company in July.
