Canon: 'Aggressive growth strategy' with new appointments

Canon has put its competitors on notice that it is undertaking what it calls an 'aggressive growth strategy' in the Australian market as it announced the appointment of two 22-year print industry veterans to spearhead its latest sales and marketing drive.



Craig Manson, Director- Canon Business Imaging, for Canon Australia, said the company is undertaking 'an aggressive growth strategy and is making brave and bold moves to become the market leader in print and document management. These appointments send a strong message to the market and position Canon to achieve its market leadership goals.'

Manson said Innes Thomson had been appointed Senior General Manager - Direct Sales and Paul Vella appointed to the role of Assistant General Manager - Managed Document Services (MDS).

With over 22 years experience in the print and document management industry, Innes worked with Xerox (UK), Fuji Xerox and HP, where he was Alliance Manager, responsible for Managed Enterprise Solutions Asia-Pacific and Japan.  Vella, with more than 22 years in the communications, ICT and print industries in sales and management of MPS across both direct and indirect channels, launched and operationalised HP's Office Print Solutions Partner program which delivers MPS via the channel.

According to Thomson, the market for MDS is maturing and, as more and more companies look to engage with an MDS partner, there is a 'massive opportunity for Canon to take control of this space.'

'Canon recognises the complex array of issues small and medium business (SMB) experience with imaging and printing. With 50 per cent of printing undertaken by the SMB market, Canon's newly formed SMB sales force will help us achieve overall market leadership in this space.'
