Micro Focus expands Australian business with new execs

Global enterprise software vendor, Micro Focus, has added four senior executives to its Australian team to support what it says is strong growth in its applications, mainfame modernisation and application test business.



Micro Focus' Australian country general manager, Bruce Craig, announced that David McAllister, to be based in Melbourne, is the newly appointed account director for VIC, SA, WA and New Zealand; Anthony Bishop has joined Micro Focus as account director for NSW and QLD, and will be based in Sydney; Eric Feinberg, based in Melbourne, has been appointed account manager for VIC, SA, and WA; and, Peter Hong has been appointed general manager, public sector, based in Canberra.

Craig said the appointments had been made because 'cost pressures and the persistent skills shortage are forcing more organisations to re-evaluate their legacy application and mainframe overhead,' and 'consequently, we have been experiencing strong growth in the areas of applications and mainframe modernisation as well as application testing.'

McAllister has as more than 23 years' experience in the IT industry. Originally trained as a COBOL programmer, McAllister joined Micro Focus from Nokia/Check Point where he was sales director for the southern region. Bishop has more than 24 years experience in the IT industry, including in the financial services industry and the public sector, and most recently he was the head of APAC for Futrix Software, and also worked for Xero and the SAS Institute.

Feinberg recently relocated from the US to Australia, after joining Micro Focus in 2007. He previously worked for IBM and has more than 16 years' experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining Micro Focus, Peter Hong, with more than 30 years experience in the local IT industry, was the client engagement director at iSOFT Health Systems, and also worked for the SAS Institute.
