Citrix Systems has created a new role of senior manager for NetScaler in the Australia, New Zealand market in what the company says is a response to very strong growth in the application delivery controller (ADC), WAN optimisation and VPN technology fields in the ANZ region.
Citrix director of product sales ANZ, Bede Hackney, said Phil Caleno had been appointed to the position, joining Citrix from BlueCoat Systems.
Hackney said Caleno will be responsible for driving the sales and business strategies for Citrix's NetScaler solution, which provides application acceleration, load balancing and web security technologies to organisations. Caleno will be based in Sydney.
'Citrix has created this role in response to very strong growth in the application delivery controller (ADC), WAN optimisation and VPN technology fields. Phil will specifically focus on the load balancing and the ADC markets, where NetScaler provides organisations with the technology to accelerate the performance and improve the security of their web-based applications.
'Application delivery controllers are a key enabling technology helping customers migrate to the cloud and improve end user experience for today's complex web applications. Phil is well known in ANZ as a leader in this space and we are confident he will bring his wealth of expertise to our channel partners and customers.'
At BlueCoat Systems, Caleno was systems engineering manager, and previously worked at F5 Networks and at IBM/PricewaterhouseCoopers as a management consultant.
