Mobile operators get fixed price spectrum renewal in $3b Government windfall

The Government has offered Australia's three mobile operators, and vividwireless, renewal of their existing spectrum allocated on 15 year licences in the late 90s and early 2000s at set prices, while the Government expects to rake in $3 billion.

Adobe veteran Treloar joins Ooyala

Video platform provider Ooyala has appointed former Adobe executive John Treloar as managing director for Australia and New Zealand.


Treloar's appointment marks the start of Ooyala's Australian operation.

"Video is exploding on the Australian corner of the Internet and customers are demanding a reliable platform for hosting and analysing their online video," said Treloar, adding "because of our common language with the biggest economies in the world, Ooyala’s platform gives Australian publishers the ability to build, scale and promote global online video businesses."

The company's existing offices are in Silicon Valley, New York, London and Paris.

Local customers include broadcaster Austereo. Among Ooyala's other clients are Arsenal Football Club, Electronic Arts, Endemol, Fremantle Media, Johnson & Johnson, Red Bull, and Telegraph Media Group.
