Google Australia and New Zealand head honcho, Karim Temsamani, is heading offshore to Google's headquarters in Mountain View where he will lead development of the company's global mobile ads strategy as well as building what Google says is its fast-growing mobile business.

Temsamani, Google's managing director of its Australia and New Zealand business, has been promoted to the new global role, after three years growing Google's search and display advertising business in Australia, building relationships with agency partners, growing the company's YouTube operations and establishing major partnerships in Australia and New Zealand to provide content and services for local users.

Google says its ANZ operation has grown to 400 employees in Temsamani's time at the helm of the local business. The company expects to announce his replacement soon.

In a parting comment, Temsamani said that 'there's no doubt that the future of the Internet is mobile.'  Google recently announced that 200,000 new Android-powered devices are activated every day.
