Sydney based telecoms and media research firm, Venture Consulting, has appointed Mevan Jayatilleke, until recently head of telecoms market research firm Telsyte, as a senior manager.
Jayatilleke told iTWire he had left Telsyte for personal reasons. "Telsyte is a great company and I was sorry to leave it." He added that, before leaving he had recruited a number of senior, high calibre staff to ensure the quality of work would be maintained.
These included telecoms industry veteran Chris Coughlan as director, research consulting, focussing on the market development aspects of the wireless sector. He has spent the last two years as an independent consultant but was for a number of years VP, wireless networks Australasia at Alcatel-Lucent and its predecessor, Lucent Technologies.
Venture Consulting said the appointments would enable it to help its clients "address the massive opportunities and risks created by the National Broadband Network."
CEO, Justin Jameson, said: "We see the next 12 months as being pivotal for our clients as they determine what the NBN will mean to their existing business models. One thing is certain: all participants will to have to reposition themselves to some extent. We are strengthening our team to help our clients manage this uncertainty, which will persist regardless of the result of the election."
According to Venture, Jayatilleke "has a deep knowledge of the Australian telco sector, having been involved across all the major NBN initiatives, both working with bidders and supporting the Government's design teams. He also has a deep understanding of the operating models of the major players and has led many commercial and technical due diligence projects in support of M&A transactions."
He added: "[Powell] has worked across Europe, Asia and Australia assisting telco and media companies formulate their digital media three screen strategies. Her breadth of experience will be of enormous benefit to our clients as they seek to integrate the impact of global trends with Australia-specific market developments."
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
