EMC lifts government effort

IT People - People

Infrastructure vendor, EMC, has created a new public sector division to service the federal, New South Wales and Victorian governments, appointing a 15-year IT veteran to head the division.

Andrew Foot has been appointed head of the division, joining EMC from Symantec where for six years he was a senior manager, including director of public sector and alliances. Foot previously worked with Telstra for nine years.

David Webster, President, EMC Australia and New Zealand said that in this newly created role, Foot will be responsible for managing EMC’s public sector market strategy and driving growth across the Australian market.

“I am particularly pleased to welcome Andrew into this newly formed Government-focused team. He brings with him extensive knowledge of the Australian Public Sector, which we believe will further strengthen EMC’s position in this market.”

“The public sector represents a significant growth opportunity for EMC with considerable activity happening in the areas of shared services, data centre consolidation and information growth. With impending national projects such as NBN, e-Health and Smart Grids, Andrew and his team will ensure that EMC remains actively engaged with these projects, leveraging EMC’s broad portfolio of infrastructure management, information security and networked storage products and solutions.”

Based in Melbourne, Foot will report directly to Alister Dias, EMC’s regional general manager, Australia/New Zealand.
