WebCentral appoints former Volante exec as COO

WebCentral, Australia's largest web and application hosting company, has appointed former Volante executive and former Citec managing director, Dr Mark Rainbird, as its chief operating officer (COO).

Rainbird was most recently director services for Volante, responsible for delivery of strategic consulting, infrastructure solutions, software solutions and managed services. He headed Citec from 2002-2005. Prior to joining Citec he worked as a senior executive for companies in the IT and mining industries including Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Mincom and Total Energy Services. His PhD, from Griffith University, is in Chemical Physics.
In addition to its own direct customer base, WebCentral claims to provide wholesale web hosting and email services to the majority of Australia's tier 1 telecommunications companies.
