Telco veteran joins Ovum Australia

IT People - People

A 20-year veteran of the telecommunications industry has been appointed head of Ovum’s consulting business in Australia and New Zealand to manage what the firm says is “continued and consistent growth within this segment of the business.”

Ovum today announced the appointment of Nigel Pugh, a former senior manager at Telstra, as consulting director for ANZ, which Ovum managing director Antonio Bartolome said “will help the consulting arm of Ovum thrive, given that he has worked extensively with telecoms operators, vendors, investment banks and regulators, both in Australia and Asia Pacific.”

Bartolome said Pugh has over 20 years' experience within the telecommunications industry and specialises in business strategy, regulatory management, market analysis and M&A, and would be taking leadership of the consulting team based in Melbourne.

“Nigel has wide project management experience, from leading small, strategically focused teams to large-scale, cross-company teams.”

Prior to Ovum, Pugh was the director of business broadband products at Telstra and also worked in Telstra’s regulatory division managing access arbitrations and Telstra’s Wholesale division where he managed broadband product development, strategy and pricing.

Pugh said he welcomed the opportunity to develop Ovum’s consulting business in Australia and New Zealand and to strengthen Ovum’s brand in the region “as the go-to consultancy for telecommunications.”
