Lawson Software sees opportunities to grow its business in the Asia Pacific region and has appointed a new head of its equipment service management and rental division to add to his role of director of sales for Australia and New Zealand.
Lawson’s general manager and regional managing
director, David Hope, said today the company - which earlier this year
completed the successful amalgamation of its Asia and Australia/New
Zealand operations – had a new strategic direction in the Asia Pacific
region for its 2010 financial year, which began on 01 June, to align
its organisational structure according to four key focus industries of
fashion, food and beverage, equipment service management and rental,
and manufacturing and distribution.
Announcing the appointment of Ian Desbrow as director of the Lawson
Equipment Service Management and Rental (ESM&R) vertical in the
Asia Pacific region - in addition to his current role of director of
sales for Australia and New Zealand – Hope said that in his regional
role Desbrow would lead Lawson’s strategic sales initiatives and
“support the company’s focus on the ESM&R industry according to its
vertical market approach.”
Hope said Desbrow brought over 20 years enterprise resource planning
(ERP) experience to Lawson, which includes “extensive knowledge in
asset management within mining, utility and heavy equipment companies.”
“The ESM&R business unit is a key area of focus for Lawson, which
overlays well with opportunities both globally and in the Asia Pacific
region.
“Over the past year, we have already signed key deals in other regions
around the world with customers such as Finning, Hewden, Zeppelin,
Wheeler Machinery Co, Swire Oilfield Services and Briggs Equipment.
I’m confident that our Lawson for Equipment Service Management and
Rental solution will have a positive impact on customer value and
growth opportunities for Lawson in the APAC region in the future.”
