Broadband provider, Internode has recruited a new media executive, who started his career with Telstra, to head up its new media division.
In line with its strategy to use “interesting
and relevant content as a service differentiator,” Internode says it
has appointed Tom McQueen to lead a 12-person team that “acts as an
in-house digital media agency delivering rich content, applications and
services via a range of platforms.”
According to the company, the new media division headed up by McQueen,
is responsible for managing well-established areas such as the
Internode games network and Internet radio as well as new initiatives
including TiVo, iPhone apps and chumby.
A company spokesman said Tom McQueen was an experienced Internet
professional after a decade working in the new media, broadband and
telecommunications sectors. After beginning his career with Telstra he
worked for UK digital media agencies, working with clients including Audi and
Microsoft.
McQueen says Internode media has been set up with a talented team to
create great content that both “attracts and retains customers,” and,
he adds “as the broadband market matures, Internode will increasingly
distinguish itself by offering a richer, easier and more interesting
online experience for its customers.”
