Privately held information security specialist, Cybertrust, has appointed former HP CEO Carleton S. (Carly) Fiorina to its its board of directors. Fiorina was fired from her job at HP early this year, reportedly after a growing rift with the company's board.
'Cybertrust is honored to have Carly Fiorina serve on our Board of Directors. She brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and insight into how technology impacts businesses and governments, and her leadership and management experience will be a tremendous asset to the company,' said John Becker, CEO of Cybertrust.
'Information security will be a key driver of growth and innovation in the technology industry for years to come, and Cybertrust is uniquely positioned to lead the global security market,' said Fiorina.
'I am looking forward to serving on its Board of Directors and helping the company to continue its growth and expand its services offerings to customers worldwide.'
Fiorina was president and chief executive officer of HP from 1999 to 2005 before she was ousted by the HP board in February 2005. She served as its chairman of the board from 2000 to 2005. Prior to joining HP, Fiorina spent nearly 20 years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies, where she held a number of senior leadership positions and directed Lucent's initial public offering and subsequent spin-off from AT&T.
