McInerney confirmed as Telstra CIO

Telstra has promoted John McInerney to the roles of chief information officer and group managing director.

He has been leading the company's IT transformation efforts while serving as acting CIO.

"John McInerney is an immensely capable executive who has been integrally involved throughout Telstra's Transformation program," said CEO Sol Trujillo.

"He has led many of the world-leading IT changes we have made at Telstra and his promotion is another sign of the success Telstra has had developing great leaders within the organisation."

McInerney previously worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Datum Group.
