Web hosting services provider, WebCentral Pty Limited, a subsidiary of WebCentral Group (ASX:WCG), has appointed a new chief information officer, Alec Lawson, based in Brisbane. Before his appointment as CIO, Lawson had been providing consulting services to WebCentral over the past two months. Prior to that, he also provided consulting services to the not for profit sector in Queensland. Lawson spent three years as CIO of Queensland utility, Energex, and prior to that was the IT Manager at the City of Sydney during its preparation for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Lawson has also spent more than 13 years in senior IT executive positions in the UK financial services sector. During his time in the UK, Lawson was a member of the Information Systems Examination Board and an executive member of the IT Service Management Forum which developed the global IT industry service quality framework (ITIL) which WebCentral is currently deploying.
