Logica Appoints Chief Executive, International

Logica, the IT and business services company, has appointed João P. A. Baptista as Chief Executive, International, and a member of its Executive Committee reporting to CEO Andy Green.

Baptista joins Logica from Portugal Telecom, where he is the Chairman and CEO of PT Investimentos Internacionais, the telecoms operator’s international operations - which had revenues of €5.5 billion in 2007 and includes a sizeable presence in Brazil and Morocco.  He is also a member of Portugal Telecom’s Executive Committee and main Board of Directors. 

Prior to joining Portugal Telecom in 2006, Baptista was vice-president of the global telecommunications team at Booz Allen Hamilton and Global Leader for Technology, Information, Communications and Entertainment (TICE) at Marsh & McLennan.

Baptista will be responsible for Logica’s international operations, which include all of the company’s operations outside of its four main clusters, the UK, France, Nordics and the Netherlands. These operations accounted for approximately 16% of Logica’s group revenue in 2007. He is expected to start in his new role in early September.

John Coleman, current Chief Executive, International, will join the UK management team in the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer. He will play a key role in driving the operational changes required to accelerate the programme for growth in the UK.
