Prior to joining
Portugal Telecom in 2006, Baptista was vice-president of the global
telecommunications team at Booz Allen Hamilton and Global Leader for
Technology, Information, Communications and Entertainment (TICE) at
Marsh & McLennan.
Baptista will be responsible for
Logica’s international operations, which include all of the company’s
operations outside of its four main clusters, the UK, France, Nordics
and the Netherlands. These operations accounted for approximately 16%
of Logica’s group revenue in 2007. He is expected to start in his new
role in early September.
John Coleman, current Chief
Executive, International, will join the UK management team in the newly
created role of Chief Operating Officer. He will play a key role in
driving the operational changes required to accelerate the programme
for growth in the UK.
Commenting on João Baptista’s
appointment, Andy Green, Logica CEO said: “I’m delighted to welcome
João, a highly talented and experienced addition to the Logica
executive team. This complements the team already in place – which was
strengthened recently with the appointments of Craig Boundy as Chief
Executive, Global Operations and Jean-Marc Lazzari as Chief Executive,
Outsourcing Services. João’s deep and varied international experience,
combined with a fantastic track record of delivery and extensive
strategic insight gained through his past consulting work, will be a
real asset as we seek to get closer to our clients and bolster our
service offering.”
João P. A. Baptista, Chief
Executive-designate, International, said: “I am thrilled to be joining
the Logica team at such an exciting time. The recent months indicate
that this is a company making excellent progress. I look forward to
working with the team in the International business to refine how we
contribute to the sustained profitable growth Logica has set out to
deliver.”
