Wikimedia Foundation appoints new treasurer

The Wikimedia Foundation board of trustees has appointed Stuart West to the board and to the position of board treasurer.

"Stuart's considerable experience leading financial operations with top technology companies, combined with his broad, international experience, will help improve our work in guiding and supporting the Foundation and its free knowledge projects," said board chair Florence Devouard.

West's career includes senior executive roles at Yahoo! and TiVo. He has also worked for JP Morgan & Co, and the US mission to the United Nations. He holds a BA in History from Yale University.

"I am delighted to join a charity that has such an extraordinary real-world impact," said West. "I am also thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my financial experience to serve the community that has created Wikipedia and so many other impressive projects."
