HP job cuts loom for Australian employees

A number of Australian employees of Hewlett-Packard are facing the loss of their jobs as the global computer giant looks to slash its worldwide workforce by up to 30,000.

Skype has appointed Josh Silverman as its CEO.

"We're honoured and excited to welcome Josh to Skype as CEO," said John Donahoe, president and CEO-elect of parent company eBay. "He has an outstanding track record of entrepreneurial leadership and managing diverse, fast-growing businesses."

Silverman is currently CEO of Shopping.com, another eBay company.

He has held various leadership roles within the eBay group since 2003, and was previously co-founder and CEO of Evite.
