Senior promotions abound at Microsoft

IT People - People

Six of the promotions are from general manager to corporate vice president. They are:

Walid Abu-Hadba, corporate vice president, developer and platform evangelism group.

Brad Brooks, corporate vice president, Windows consumer product marketing. Previously general manager, Windows pProduct marketing, Brooks replaces Michael Sievert, who is leaving "to pursue new endeavours," reportedly the founding of his own company.

Larry Cohen, corporate vice president, corporate communications.

Steve Guggenheimer, corporate vice president, original equipment manufacturer division. Previously general manager, application platform marketing, he takes on a new role in charge of managing Microsoft's relationships with makers of PCs and other devices.

Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president, .NET developer platform.

Roz Ho, corporate vice president, premium mobile offerings. Ho's new responsibilities include leading the Danger business recently acquired by Microsoft.

Finally, Brian Tobey, has been promoted from vice president to corporate vice president, manufacturing and operations for Microsoft's entertainment and devices division.

The relationship (if any) between these promotions and Microsoft's proposed takeover of Yahoo! remains to be seen, but if you were a Yahoo! exec and you'd just seen your opposite number at Microsoft given a more senior title, how confident would you be of keeping your job if the acquisition goes ahead?
