Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Ric Shreves, former Mambo Foundation president, has left his role as the managing director of international open source CMS consultant, Water & Stone, to work as an independent open source web applications consultant.
The first contract Shreves has taken is a one year stint with the NGO
Peace Dividend Trust (PDT), which focuses on aid effectiveness in
general and on post-conflict zone economies in particular.
"My first task for PDT is to set up a B2B exchange to improve NGO and UN PeaceKeeping force logistics operations," says Shreves.
"That is an interesting project with the potential for significant
impact on the way NGO dollars are spent. The brief calls for a launch
in two countries initially, with at least 2 more in the queue. After
that project gets going, we're looking at setting up knowledge
management tools for the UN Peacekeeping forces. The brief is all Open
Source."
Shreves says the career move will allow him to be more immersed in
technology and also enable hime to write more. He recently published a
book on the Drupal CMS and hopes to do another title early next year.
