Former senior public servant and current chancellor of the Australian National University Allan Hawke has joined the board of professional services firm Datacom.
He previously served as Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Secretary of Transport and Regional Development, Secretary of Defence, and High Commissioner to New Zealand. His current appointments include chair of the MTAA Superannuation Fund Trustee Board, and a seat on the board of the Canberra Raiders rugby league club.
"I am now in the fortunate position of being able to contribute to organisations that interest me. I was immediately attracted by Datacom’s model of organic growth supplemented by targeted acquisitions as well as the calibre of its leadership team," said Hawke.
“In my experience, successful companies start with a CEO who can translate business direction into meaningful, actionable information - Michael Browne has what it takes to do that in spades."
Browne welcomed Hawke by saying "The bipartisan appointments Allan has received during his 30 years in the Commonwealth Public Service demonstrate the high level of respect he commands from our nation's leading officials. Allan's appointment will help promote Datacom’s operational presence in the ACT and add real value at Board level, particularly by assisting us to make in-roads into the Federal Government sector."
