Demand for IT executives continued to grow in November, despite a general downward trend in other sectors as the year wound down.
The executive demand report, based on both internet and newspaper advertising, from executive search firm, E.L Consult, showed IT top jobs demand was up 11.5% on November 2004.
For the first time since April this year, the IT sector has been able to string together two consecutive months of positive results, allowing it to be the second-best performing index after Engineering, the only other sector to show positive growth for November.
The IT Index gained 2% in November compared with the previous month, with gains in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland underpinning the result. Mild falls in NSW and the ACT were not enough to drag the result into negative territory. The online space was stronger than advertising taken out in newspapers.
