ICT graduates job ads rocket in 2005

IT People - Enterprise

Job ads for ICT graduates on the internet rose 89% so far in 2005, according to the monthly index from recruitment firm Olivier.

According to the Olivier Index, demand for ICT graduates was only surpassed by increases in jobs for sales & marketing and engineering & mining graduates.

According to Oliver boss, Robert Olivier, with job ads targeting university leavers up considerably, there may be fewer graduates coming onto the Australian job market, as universities focus on the higher fee yielding overseas and post graduate students.

With companies increasingly looking to hire ICT graduates in the coming year, combined with an alarming drop in local ICT tertiary students, an ICT graduates squeeze in 2006 appears to be almost certain.
