After being the standout performer in the demand stakes for two months, demand for executives in IT industry plemmeted in September, according to a new report.
According to the latest monthly Executive Demand Index, from executive search firm E.L Consult, demand for IT executives plunged by 23% in September, after two months of sharp rises. However, the trend for IT executive positions remains positive and demand in September 2005 was more than 30% up on September 2004.
The Executive Demand index is derived from statistics taken from a combination of both internet and print media job ads.
Among the states, New South Wales was particularly strong in offline advertising, although an online advertising fall meant the state recorded an overall negative result. South Australia and Queensland recorded an overall positive result, but were dragged down by negatives coming out of Western Australian and Victoria.
