“Information technology was a strong performer in
February. The whole IT market has been in the doldrums recently due to
US-based multi-nationals turning off the employment tap as the share
market cratered,” E.L Consult boss Grant Montgomery said.
“But then people find there are roles that just
have to be filled for businesses to keep on operating, prompting a
recovery in demand.”
So if demand for IT executives spiked in February, indicating that
there are projects coming on line, it is hard to imagine that there
would be a drop off of positions down the line.
The discrepancy between the Olivier report with the Best and E.L
Consult reports raise the question of how reliable reports are that
survey every technology jobs board under the sun. It is well known that
many recruiters broadcast the same jobs across every single jobs board
they can reach - especially when many will let them list jobs for free.
That said, time will tell whether Olivier has in this case got it
terribly wrong or is perhaps ominously the only one who has it right.
