IT&T services provider SMS Management & Technology (ASX:SMX) has announced a net profit after tax of $6.9m for the six months to 31 December 2006, this was a 32% increase on the first half last year. The strength of the services sector was highlighted by the company's recruiting drive for additional consultants, bringing total staff numbers up to 892.

Highlights for the six months include:

- Australian Consulting revenue increased by 33%

- Technology Services revenue increased by 176%

- Australian Consulting numbers increased by a nett 85
