Imation has appointed WhiteGold Solutions as master distributor of its security products in Australia.

The Imation security range includes the IronKey family of encrypted storage devices, and provides a range of FIPS validated secure USB devices that include 'remote kill' capability.

"We are excited to be partnering with WhiteGold Solutions. They have expertise in offering best-of-breed security products and a successful heritage in supporting security solutions," said Sven Radavics, head of Imation's mobile security business in the Asia Pacific region.

"At the same time, they are able to support us with an excellent technical team and extensive training resources as we build our business in the region."

While enterprise and government markets are the big opportunities for these products in Australia, the SME sector also offers strong potential.

WhiteGold MD Dominic Whitehand said "We see enormous potential in helping organisations easily implement, monitor, and manage their mobile workforce infrastructure – either on-premise or via the cloud – and solve key issues such as data leakage prevention, BYOD (bring your own device) policies, strong encryption and authentication challenges.

"WhiteGold can now tailor Imation's mobile security solutions to the exact requirements of vertical markets, including those with stringent security needs, such as government and financial services."

Mr Radavics told iTWire that Imation's Australian customers include all the first and second tier banks, and the company also has a "foothold" in almost every major federal government department as well as state government departments and local governments.
