Dunn loses chairwoman HP role amid spying scandal

Hewlett-Packard chairwoman has been ousted as chairwoman of the HP board after a boardroom spying scandal that sparked further investigation by the Attorney General's office.
The scandal broke, when it was revealed that Dunn had ordered an outside investigation of fellow board members to find the source of a relatively harmles leak to online IT publication CNet.

In the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that board members and journalists phone logs had been obtained by investigators posing as the people under surveillance. While there is a possibility that the methods used were illegal the Attorney General is yet to press chatges.

Dunn, who said she wasn't aware of the methods used in the investigation, had said she would resign if asked to do so by other board members. However, she reamins on the board.

The new chairman is HP CEO Mark Hurd.
