And finally - at least for now - the Google Mini search appliance has been dropped from the company's portfolio. According to Matt Eichner, Google's general manager of global enterprise search, "its functionality can be better provided by products like Google Search Appliance, Google Site Search and Google Commerce Search." Existing customers will continue to receive support for the remainder of their contracts.

"Closing products always involves tough choices, but we do think very hard about each decision and its implications for our users," said Mr Eichner. "Streamlining our services enables us to focus on creating beautiful technology that will improve people's lives."
