Sensis' executive general manager, customer, Gerry Sutton, said: "Independent research commissioned in December 2011 showed that information rich ads are the number one driver of usage, and were the most effective factor in influencing consumers to contact a customer's business.

"This could be information about trading hours; details about products or services that each business provides; or additional contact information - content that helps book users make informed purchase decisions."

Sutton said the decision to only include free entry listings from the local area that each customised edition of the book is distributed to would make the book for relevant.

"If users can't find info rich content in the book, they may search for a local service provider's contact details, but only if that service provider is located nearby."

Sutton said the changes to the Yellow Pages print portfolio would ensure Sensis continued to meet community expectations regarding the production of its books. "This is a print product that not only meets the needs of our advertisers and users, but helps further reduce Sensis' environmental footprint which is an important part of our commitment to sustainability."
