Lucent joins Scope Alliance

Lucent Technologies has joined the Scope Alliance, an association of the major network equipment providers set up to promote the availability and interoperability of open carrier-grade base platforms based on commercial off-the-shelf building blocks.
Bill Clifford, Lucent's vice president, network platform realisation said: "We were party to the early discussions leading to the formation of this alliance and are pleased to be joining the SCOPE Alliance at this point. We plan to be an active participant in fostering an open specifications-based base platform environment. We look forward to working within this alliance to further the interests of our customers."
