Australian Style in liquidation

IT Industry - Strategy

Australian Style, which traded as domain name registrar Bottle Domains, has been place in liquidation.

The liquidation of Australian Style stems from a 2009 court case brought by auDA, that Australian domain name administrator. The company traded as Bottle Domains.

Bottle Domains was stripped of its registration by auDA in April 2009 following security incidents in April 2007 and February 2009.

Legal action followed, with auDA coming out on top.

Late in 2010, auDA sought to have Australian Style wound up as the company had failed to pay the costs awarded ($373, 312.49).

On February 7 2011, the Victorian Supreme Court ordered the liquidation of Australian Style, appointing John Lindholm of Ferrier Hodgson as liquidator.

8536 .au domain names were registered with Australian Style when its registrar accreditation was terminated, and they were transferred to auDA. Since then 4884 names have been transferred to other registrars or resellers. The remaining names will need to be transferred before they expire if they are to be renewed.
