Oracle, NetApp settle patent suits

IT Industry - Strategy

Oracle and NetApp have settled the patent suites that the database giant inherited with its acquisition of Sun Microsystems.

The legal battle between NetApp and Sun (now owned by Oracle) started in 2006 when Sun asserted that NetApp's use of Write Anywhere File Layout (WAFL) infringed Sun's patents.
