Optus says it has added 50,000 broadband customers in the three months to 31 March, bringing its total number of broadband customers to over 550,000.
The company is hoping that its recently introduced $19.95 per month broadband plan and 30-day broadband trial offer will further boost numbers in the current quarter.

Optus is presently migrating customers to its own DSLAM network which delivers two premium services: Optus DSL Direct (broadband services) and Optus Local Direct (home telephony services).

Optus has not given a breakdown of how the total is divided between customers on its Telstra resale service, its own DSLAMs and its HFC network. Optus will announce its fourth quarter results on 4 May 2006.
