Skype 100 million downloads, but how many users?

Skype has been widely reported as announcing that it has passed the 100 million user mark. However what its website actually says is 100 million 'downloads'. This gives no indication of the number of frequent users. However it nevertheless represents an astonishing growth rate: when eBay bought Skype last September the number of downloads stood at just over half this figure, 54 million.
