As if its legal battle with the Beatles over the Apple logo wasn't enough, Apple Computer now finds itself embroiled in a new legal stoush. This time, Apple is being sued over alleged patent infringements of high-speed internet broadcasting technology being used in its popular iTunes, iPod and Quicktime products.
Burst.com, which develops software that can transmit large files, such as audio and video, over the internet at high speeds claims that it would rather not take Apple to court but wants to be paid license fees for the use of its patents. Microsoft paid a US$60 million settlement to Burst in 2005 after a similar patent infringement suit was lodged.
