OzHub, the Macquarie Telecom-led cloud computing alliance, has come down firmly on the side of Optus over the copyright controversy surrounding Optus TV Now, warning that any moves to change the law "risk branding Australia a global luddite state."
HP will provide implementation services for Alcatel-Lucent's unified comms offering, and will use Alcatel-Lucent UC products to deliver industry-specific UC applications under an extension of their alliance announced last year.
The two companies say: "this agreement enables HP and Alcatel-Lucent to deliver and market end-to-end [unified communication and collaboration] solutions to clients. These solutions use the convergence of telecommunications and IT to transform the way customers use UC&C services."
The offerings include: - migration from multivendor and legacy PBX to an IP voice integration layer that uses Alcatel-Lucent's open IP telephony architecture for UC&C; - automated workflow and workload within business processes to reduce operational costs by increasing the effectiveness of all enterprise-wide resources and superior customer service with HP and Genesys intelligent workload distribution; - industry applications for UC&C that demonstrate a streamlined approach to reducing costs and improving efficiency, such as Digital Hospital.
For migration services, HP will use the Genesys Customer Interaction management platform, UC connect solutions and the Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch Instant Communication Suite and IP telephony offering – the OmniPCX Enterprise. For industry applications HP will use Alcatel-Lucent's Advanced Communication Server to provide an enhanced, open UC&C integration layer across industry domains, including healthcare, financial services, utilities and government.
These offerings will be built on HP's UC&C consulting services, claimed to "take a comprehensive approach to enterprise communications from strategy and planning through implementation, design and education." They may be implemented on a customer's premises or via an outsourced operating model.
In June 2009 HP and Alcatel-Lucent announced a ten-year global alliance to develop and jointly market solutions that they said would "transform communication networks into converged, next-generation infrastructures," for service providers and enterprises with the aim of generating billions of euros of new revenues. HP also undertook to transform and manage Alcatel-Lucent's IT Infrastructure.
They committed to providing "all required investment supported by dedicated business development and sales resources," to their alliance.
