"To really execute on our vision we needed to make a number of acquisitions. We made some in 2007 that gave us geographic and skills coverage. Then in 2009 we looked at Accord, Aspirence and Axxis and tried to figure out how we could fund these," he said.

"We were approaching our goal from the IT services side and moving into telco and Hostech were approaching the same markets from a telco perspective, and moving into IT services. [Hostech had recently acquired OfficeLink and 5Star]'¦So we were fortunate to find a company that was already listed."

Kazacos said that the three acquisitions would bring much needed regional coverage to Anittel/Hostech. "Axxis gives us Dubbo, Bathurst and Orange. Aspirence gives us Albury and Wagga and Wodonga and Accord gives us expertise in managed services in the education market in WA."

"Our ultimate goal is to have a presence in all major regional centres around Australia. We have NSW fairly well covered; regional Victoria is still [a priority] as is regional Queensland, and we don't really have a presence in the Northern Territory."
