Brocade and McAfee plan to work together to deliver network security products for the enterprise.
A multi-year deal between network hardware specialist Brocade and security software provider McAfee will see the development of jointly designed products that the companies say will specifically address the needs of enterprise customers.
Examples cited by the new partners include the McAfee firewall and network access control working hand-in-hand with Brocade routers and switches, Brocade's ServerIron application controllers providing McAfee firewalls with load balancing, and Brocade IronView Network Manager responding to security events generated by McAfee's software.
"Keeping data secure is a battle that must be waged on multiple fronts, especially at the network level," said Dan Ryan, executive vice president and general manager of McAfee's network security business unit.
"Working with Brocade to bring a comprehensive set of network security solutions to market makes perfect sense - the coupling of the strengths of both companies is expected to deliver a set of solutions that customers can depend on to protect their most valuable data assets," added Ryan.
"Brocade's vision is for network services to enable customers to securely connect anytime from anywhere in a globally competitive marketplace," said Deb Dutta, vice president, Brocade Asia Pacific.
