Australian OSS software developer, Clarity International, has announced a new contract with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) which has selected Clarity as the strategic OSS platform for transformation of its fixed line network to a next generation network (NGN).
"The next two years will be a 're-investment and re-invention' phase for PLDT as we implement NGN to simplify our network architecture, develop new revenue streams and support closer coordination between our fixed and wireless businesses," said PLDT president and CEO Napoleon L Nazareno.
According to Noel Gatchalian, information systems head, PLDT. "Clarity will manage both our current and next generation network. It will help us leverage the best technology to provide traditional and innovative new services to our customers. It will streamline and automate our provisioning and assurance processes - reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving levels of service.
"Clarity offers an unparalleled opportunity to change the way we interact with and support our customers. Using Clarity to manage our NGN will enable us to radically improve our customer experience."
PLDT already uses Clarity to provision and assure its data and wholesale networks and by using Clarity's OSS for fixed line and NGN, "PLDT will become one of the few tier-1 telecommunications companies in the world able to manage their end-to-end network with one integrated OSS," according to Clarity.
