Telstra to deploy Lavastorm business assurance system

IT Industry - Strategy

Telstra is deploying Lavastorm's revenue and business assurance software across its entire organisation.

According to Lavastorm, it won the business following a rigorous competitive tender and after its software had been tested and accepted by Telstra. "The deal marks Lavastorm's first major win in the booming Asia-Pacific marketplace and will serve as a launching pad for Lavastorm's expansion into the region," the company said.

Telstra will also leverage a number of Lavastorm's analytic applications for network to bill, invoice to bill, special and switched access billing and usage to usage analysis, all operating within Lavastorm's Brain Analytic Platform.

According to Lavastorm, Telstra's criteria for evaluating the system included:
- Comprehensive ETL capabilities, including the ability to process high-volumes of data from multiple sources with multiple formats;
- Ability to support complex business rules and provide ongoing ease of maintenance and enhancement of those rules by Telstra;
- Support for comprehensive data matching and correlation for reconciling data from multiple systems, leveraging specific business rules ie pre-mediation and post-mediation;
- Drill-down and drill-through capabilities to provide an explanation into the nature of discrepancies that are identified.

Lavastorm, a Martin Dawes Systems company, was created from a merger of US-based Lavastorm Technologies and Stockholm-based Visual Wireless. It claims that its products are in use with 20 of the world's largest network operators. It has a sales and service office in Melbourne.
