First Lenovo PCs to hit Australia in March

IT Industry - Strategy

Lenovo has unveiled the Lenovo 3000 PC family aimed at the small business sector, which are due to hit Australian shelves next month.  The new Lenovo 3000 product line features several new desktop and notebook models with the latest processor technologies in a new silver chassis.

According to research group Gartner, small businesses last year spent more than US$400 billion on computer-related products and services worldwide, and that amount is expected to increase in 2006.

Lenovo claims its 3000 product line features built-in tools, designed to helped reduce IT expenses in small-business environments, with virus recovery, simplified network connectivity and automatic updates.

"The new Lenovo 3000 product family will appeal to entrepreneurs and small business owners. It has components of the rock-solid enterprise level, ThinkPad-inspired technologies combined with the latest Lenovo innovations to create well designed, dependable PCs," said Alan Munro, managing director, Lenovo, Australia and New Zealand.  "Australia's most savvy entrepreneurs now have an option designed to fit the budgets and computing needs of even the smallest firms."

According to Lenovo, its inbuilt tools can help users streamline maintenance tasks to keep PCs running like new, such as:

* A one-button system recovery to help users diagnose, get help, and recover systems from catastrophic software failures caused by  viruses and malware.

* Automatic updates that download and install critical updates on a user-configured schedule to help keep the system operating at peak performance.

* Easy connectivity for simple wired or wireless set up for home office, office and leisure connections.

The new Lenovo 3000 line includes new notebook PCs -- the Lenovo C Series -- and new desktop PCs -- the Lenovo J Series.

Pricing for the J105 and J100 desktop PCs will be announced in Australia by 1 March.  Prices for the C100 start at $1199. Lenovo 3000 products will mostly be sold through Lenovo Australian business partners, and directly via the web at www.lenovo.com/en/au.
