Online jobs website operator, Seek Limited has signed a three-year, multimillion-dollar deal to outsource its online infrastructure to Hostworks.
Hostworks says it won Seek's business "after a heavily contested tender involving some of the world's largest IT services firms". Under the agreement, Hostworks will be responsible for both the online infrastructure and the provision of business continuity services for all of Seek's sites.
Over a period of time (not specified) Hostworks will take full responsibility for managing the 24x7 availability and performance of Seek's online business. Previously, these were internally managed by seek staff at a location provided by a telecommunications firm.
Seek's CIO, Tam Vu said the company needed to focus on adding value to its business rather than running hardware and software. According to Vu, "Our market evaluation has shown than Hostworks is a unique player in Australia that can provide this level of managed service."
Seek claims to draw over 1.5 million individual visitors to its web site each month to search advertised roles, and to attract approximately 10,000 customers per month who list about 80,000 job advertisements at any one time. Seek is currently the exclusive careers content provider on ninemsn, and other sites such as OptusNet and AOL.
