Mooter sells net advertising technology in Japan

IT Industry - Strategy

Mooter Media Limited (ASX: MMZ) has announced the first deployment of its proprietary advertising targeting technology in Japan. The technology is designed to serve advertising relevant to the content of the pages on which it appears.

In the first implementation, a joint initiative with Overture, the online advertising arm of Yahoo! Inc, Mooter will be serving ads to approximately 12 million page views per month on a Japanese community website (which it says cannot be named for commercial reasons) with content covering a range of sectors including sports, entertainment and society.

John Diddams, CEO of Mooter Media said "Whilst this first publisher is a niche property, compared with other publisher opportunities for Mooter in Asia, we see this as an important milestone in demonstrating the effectiveness of the Mooter technology in a language other than English and in a market outside Australia."

Mooter COO, Mathew McDougall, claimed that in implementing the Mooter targeting technology in the Japanese language had been "refreshingly easy" and said the company was "looking forward to further deployments in the Asian region in the very near future".

Mooter raised $8 million through an IPO and listing on ASX last October.
